wines from Chateau Bellefontaine

Thierry de Combarieu is a descendant of eight generations of vineyard owners and wine-makers and it is with this background that Thierry is a wine-grower to the tips of his fingers.

The 85 hectares of vineyard which surround the Chateau and its legendary spring is generally reckoned to be one of the best vineyard sites in the Costieres de Nimes, facing south and within sight of the sea.

The Roman influence is to be found all around Nimes. The Chateau was built close to an artesian spring from which the name Bellefontaine is derived, believed to come directly from the Alps and is absolutely pure and fresh, and has refreshed six generations of vineyard owners on this Domaine.

Apart from producing the best possible wine, Thierry's main responsibility is to respect and protect his environment against all the agents (even human) which might change or modify them. It is with a harvest which is picked at perfect maturity combined with modern technology, the advice of the wine-maker and the passion of Thierry de Combarieu, which gives birth to these "treasures of happiness" each year.
