A family-run winery with 25 hectares of their own vineyard and sourcing fruit from other quality growers. Previously a high-end bulk producer, the winery now makes smaller parcels of carefully blended genuinely old wines. The wine spends 7 months in stainless steel tanks with successive racking before being transferred to American Oak for 36 months.

Set in the ‘high lands’ of Cataluna above the River Ebro, just south of Priorat, the area has a Mediterranean climate with a continental influence.  Very old vines, result in low yields and high quality. Ripe grapes are produced more consistently and economically in this area than anywhere in Cataluna.

The wine is burgundy-coloured with good depth. Rich and varied nose with complex aromas of jam and forest fruits, blackberry and redcurrant against a subtle spicy backdrop of vanilla, bay and pepper. Full bodied and full flavoured with high quality tannins. Long finish with hints of tobacco and toast.

And you won't believe the price, but it's true!

More about Cabernet Sauvignon
Cabernet Sauvignon is a relation of Merlot. Originally produced in France, it has become one of the widest planted wine grape in the world. A cross over grape of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc, the Cabernet Sauvignon grape is hardy and holds up well to variable growing conditions. As a result it is grown across the world from Tuscany to Washington. A true Cabernet Sauvignon will have favours of black berries, cherry, chocolate and peppers.
Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot?
Cabernet Sauvignon is a dark red wine with an acidity that lingers in the taste buds. It is often served with high fat content meats and hearty meals. Merlot is often slightly smoother with strong aromas of back berries, chocolate and coffee. Our answer when posed with the question of 'this red wine or that red wine?' is generally BOTH! It all depends on your mood, meal or which you prefer but a good Carbenet Sauvignon or a good Merlot always goes down well.
What Does Gran Reserva Mean?
A Gran Reserva wine must have been aged for at least 2 years in oak, and 3 years in the bottle. A Gran Reserva wine will typically come from a good good vintage and the aging process only improves the wine further.
