Grapes: Merlot/Cabernet Franc/Cabernet Sauvignon
Style: Round & Elegant
Chateau Brand Bergère extends north of Saint-Emilion on one of the highest points of the Gironde with views extending 40 km over the Dronne Valley. Wine has been cultivated here since the 18th Century. Vinification takes place in concrete tanks, as in many of the most prestigious cellars of Bordeaux, and are sufficiently numerous and small to enable the process to be spread over 24 months.
If you're looking for a good-old smooth "Claret" this is it. This is the signature wine of Château Brande Bergère, reflecting their terroir and the work done in the vineyard and cellar.
Deep red in color, well structured, round, and very elegant.
Beautiful attack, ample, with a hint of acidity. The aromas are of blackberry and raspberry, and there is a nice sweetness in the finish. The wine is refined and delicately fruity, this 2016 vintage is a beautiful example of an expressive red Bordeaux with a hint of acidity, and nicely extracted tannins.
Best drunk with strong meat dishes and perfect with a Sunday roast. And, ofcourse, with strong cheeses. We like it on its own, curled up on a Sunday night!
