We've done it again - found another Côtes du Roussillon Villages Red which is just irrestible.
The wine is made from 50+year-old vines, grown on stony ground in the wonderful Languedoc-Roussillon region of France. Each grape type is hand-harvested and hand-sorted separately, then left on the lees for three weeks before vinification. Careful blending takes place before being aged in oak barrels for 12 months.
The robe is crimson, the nose of pure black cherry jam and liquorice. The palate is velvety smooth and full, with the flavour of spices, vanilla and liquorice. The tanins are deep and silky, and the finish is long and satisfying. This is a truly safisfying and generous wine which will accompany big steaks, rich meat dishes and, of course, strong cheeses.
One of our favourites! and highly recommended.
