Châteauneuf-du-pape "la bernadine" m. chapoutier

Grapes: Grenache / Syrah
ABV: 15.5%
Style: Big, powerful
Vintage: 2007

M. Chapoutier, founded in 1808, produce La Bernardine from the Chateauneuf-du-Pape appellation in Southern Rhone. The wine expresses M. Chapoutiers' belief in creating wines that demonstrate complexity, finesse and the "terroir" of the Rhone Valley.

La Bernardine is made solely from 90% Grenache 10% Syrah. This is exceptional for a Chateauneuf-du-Pape as the Appellation allows a blend of up to thirteen different grape varieties. The colour is deep purple, the nose is complex and subtle with blackcurrant, plum, roasted coffee and cinnamon. On the palate you will find flavours of morello cherry, liquorice and spices. Big and powerful. This well structured, elegant wine will make a great partner for all meats, tuna, pasta and cheese.
